Clitoria ternatae commonly known as Asian pigeonwings, bluebellvine, Butterfly pea, blue pea, cordofan pea and Darwin pea, Kembang Telang (in Indonesia). This vine commonly found in the yard or forest edge. And the plant is native to tropical Asia, but have now spread throughout the tropical region.
Since long ago this plant was planted in the yard as an ornamental plant because of its bright blue or purple flowers. Its flowers in various places of Southeast Asia are used as traditional medicine as well as modern as well as food coloring.
In ancient times, this flower was used as an eye drops, both in infants and adults. The pharmacological potential of this plant among others is as an antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic, antiparasitic and anti-oxidant, antidiabetic, anticancer, antihistamine, immunomodulator, and potential role in the central nervous system, Central Nervous System (CNS).
